Kenya Barris remains busy this pilot season and has another comedy with a pilot order as NBC opts to pick up for consideration for the 2018-19 season.

Bright Futures, from writer and executive producer Hale Rothstein as well as writers and co-EPs Danny Segal & Isaac Schamis, follows a group of friends all stumbling through the transition from the clueless, immature twentysomethings they are now to the successful professionals they’re destined to be.

Barris will also serve as an EP. This is his second pilot this development season, after ABC’s untitled family sitcom reverted to the pilot stage when EP Alec Baldwin opted not to star.

The writer/producer is also behind ABC’s Black-ish and the spinoff, Freeform’s Grown-ish.

NBC has thus far ordered five other comedy pilots, including new projects from Mike Schur and Sean Hayes.
