Following her Top 25 finalist spot in the most recent Launch Pad Feature Competition, Emily Blake has found a new home – signing with Jeff Portnoy of Bellevue Productions.

Earning her a spot in the Launch Pad Competition was her script NOBODY LIVES FOREVER, which is pitched as John Wick meets The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and which centers on a hitman with a perfect record who is tasked with an impossible goal – killing a man who is immortal. Blake’s writing skills are vividly on display, as she not only manages to bring to life a fast, fun, and endlessly energetic action piece, but manages to do so while interlaying phenomenal character work, darkly comedic dialogue, and genuine heart on every single page. The end result is a rare treat that truly allows Blake’s voice to shine.

Originally from North Carolina, Blake’s transition to Los Angeles has included a number of creative jobs, including serving as a script supervisor, a cosplay costume designer, and as a host for the podcast After The Hype. Additionally, her work as a writer has been highlighted with appearances on the Young & Hungry List (top 100 new writers), The Hit List (best spec scripts of the year) and as a semi-finalist in the Nicholl Fellowship.

When not writing you can find Blake hunting for deals at Goodwill, creating D&D characters that will run heroically into battle – stab everything – and die immediately after, prepping for the next San Diego Comic Con, or genuinely worrying if she’s lived in Los Angeles so long that she’s now afraid of rain.

With her signing, Blake joins more than 360 Launch Pad writers who have landed representation in the past five years. As someone we know will never do anything halfway – we can’t wait to see what she has does next!
