Laurie Holden has joined the cast of DUMB AND DUMBER TO opposite Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels. The plot is being kept under wraps but Holden has snatched up the female lead. She’ll play Adele Pichlow, “the well to do wife of a doctor who is up to no good and who plans to use Harry and Lloyd to cover her tracks.” This seems like a purposeful reversal of the original film’s female lead but it also sounds like a character better suited for a family movie like “101 Dalmatians” or something. However, I remain cautiously excited if not to see Jeff Daniels play goofy again. Bearded Daniels (“Looper”) or Mean Daniels (“The Newsroom”) are both great but Dummy Daniels needs to break free.
“Sex Drive” scribes Sean Anders and John Morris will write the script that returning helmers Peter and Bobby Farrelly will direct. Producing will be Charles B. Wessler, Brad Krevoy, Steve Stabler and Bradley Thomas.
Holden’s last substantial movie role was in Frank Darabont’s “The Mist.” She’s probably best known for her work on “The Walking Dead” and “The Shield.”
