Hamilton maestro Lin-Manuel Miranda has been tapped to serve as creative producer for the adaptation of Pat Rothfuss’ best-selling trilogy THE KINGKILLER CHRONICLE. The two will partner on the project at Lionsgate.
The book series tells the story of Kvothe, a legendary musician, actor, magician, and warrior who has gone into hiding as a tavern keeper. When a famous scribe discovers him, Kvothe agrees to tell his life story over the course of three days. The first two days have been recounted in The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man’s Fear.
“Pat Rothfuss’ Kingkiller books are among the most read and re-read in our home. It’s a world you want to spend lifetimes in, as his many fans will attest. Pat also writes about the act of making music more beautifully than any novelist I’ve ever read,” said Miranda in a statement.
Transformers 5 scribe Lindsey Beer is penning the adaptation of The Name of the Wind for the big screen. This is part of Lionsgate’s multi-platform deal with author Rothfuss that will tell the full story of Kvothe through films, TV series, and video games.
Miranda is hot off of his success as the composer of Disney’s Moana. The Tony Award winner will also star in the Mouse House’s upcoming Mary Poppins reboot and write music for the live-action version of The Little Mermaid.
He is repped by WME and Liebman Entertainment.
