Gin Phillips’ forthcoming novel BEAUTIFUL THINGS is on its way to the big screen. Margot Robbie is teaming with Warner Bros. under her LuckyChap Entertainment banner for the adaptation with producer Denise Di Novi.
Warner Bros. nabbed the movie rights to the thriller which LuckyChap will produce with Di Novi as well as Alison Greenspan of Di Novi Pictures. The book option is the first move for LuckyChap since it signed a first-look deal with Warners in September. Robbie has developed a strong relationship with Warner Bros. since starring in Suicide Squad and The Legend of Tarzan.
Phillips’ book tells the story of a mother and son who are trapped in a zoo for three hours with a gunman on the loose. The book sold to Viking for a reported $850,000.
LuckyChap is currently in pre-production on the Tonya Harding biopic I, Tonya, which will star Robbie in the titular role of the controversial figure skater. Robbie is currently filming a yet-to-be-titled A.A. Milne biopic and was recently cast in the adaptation of Peter Rabbit.
