has signed on to star opposite Will Ferrell in DADDY’S HOME. The comedy, written by Brian Burns, centers on the perfect stepdad who finds himself fighting for his family’s affections when their real father comes crashing back into their lives. Ferrell will play the radio executive stepdad, while Wahlberg has been cast as the freeloading father. Sean Anders is directing the project for Paramount, Red Granite and Gary Sanchez Productions.

Wahlberg has made a name for himself in comedy recently by starring in Date Night, Ted, and Pain & Gain. Recently, he has also appeared in more traditional Wahlberg roles in Transformers: Age of Extinction and Lone Survivor. Next up, Wahlberg is set to star in the thriller The Partner from John Grisham and an untitled action/thriller about a computer hacker who sets out to take down the students of a suburban high school. Don’t worry, he hasn’t abandoned comedy – he’s set to star in Ted 2 as well.
