This looks like it’s going to be a big year for the Netflix Marvel shows with the second season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones premiering this Thursday, and a third season of Daredevil currently filming and also expected soon. Netflix has also promised a second season of Marvel’s The Punisher. (Sorry, Finn Jones, maybe Iron Fist will be back for another Defenders series.)
One of the more popular offerings from the Marvel Television initiative at Netflix was the MARVEL’S LUKE CAGE series starring Mike Colter as the popular African-American superhero.
Netflix has just released a teaser trailer (which you can watch below), which shows some new footage from the second season while announcing the streaming date for Season 2 as June 22.
Co-starring with Colter is Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Theo Rossi as Shades Alvarez and Mustafa Shakir as John McIver.
After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.
You can watch the teaser and Season 2 release date announcement below, and below that, you can check out four behind-the-scene stills from the show’s production.
