Neil Gaiman has signed on to write JOURNEY TO THE WEST, a $300M epic trilogy, for producer Zhang Jizhong. Based on 16th century novel by Wu Cheng’en, the fantasy epic follows the adventures of the Monkey King, who, armed with a magic staff, journeys with three companions to India to retrieve Buddha’s scrolls in an effort to find enlightenment. James Cameron will consult on script matters and technology issues with Guillermo del Toro being courted to direct.
