Nicholas Meyer has signed on to pen the script for MARK TWAIN’S AMERICA. Based on the book by Harry L. Katz, the drama follows famed author and satirist Mark Twain between 1850 and 1910 when he was a Mississippi river boat pilot, a California gold prospector, a muckraking journalist, novelist, and public speaker. Alan Gasmer is attached to produce alongside Kevin Cleary under his Pooka Entertainment banner.
Meyer is well known for adapting books for the big screen, having written the scripts for adaptations of Philip Roth’s novels “The Human Stain” and “Elegy.” He has also written and directed some of the old school “Star Trek” films including “Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country” and “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.” Most recently, Meyer penned the History Channel miniseries “Houdini,” which stars Adrien Brody as the famed magician.
Meyer is repped by Paradigm and Alan Gasmer and Friends.
