Nicolas Cage is set to take the lead in Paul Schrader’s IN THE DYING LIGHT. The story follows a retirement bound CIA agent who starts to go blind during his last mission. Cage will of course play the main character. He doesn’t do second fiddle unless he’s stealing the show like he did in “Kick-Ass.”
Paul Schrader wrote the script and will direct. At one point Nicolas Winding Refn was attached to direct but dropped out (as he often does) when he disagreed with Harrison Ford on the proposed ending. Schrader is getting a lot of publicity (read: slack) for his recent directing gig/fiasco “The Canyons.” Hopefully things turn out better for Schrader. I consider Cage a definite trade up from Lohan. Both are crazy, but Cage really owns it.
Cage was last seen in “Stolen” (which I’m suuuuuuure bears no resemblance to “Taken”) and heard in “The Croods.” Up next for him is “The Frozen Ground” and “Joe.”
He is repped by CAA.
