Comedian Niecy Nash is set to stretch her dramatic acting muscles in SELMA. Nash will play Richie Jean Jackson, wife of Dr. Sullivan Jackson, in the period drama. The story focuses on the historic–and often violent–marches that took place in Selma, Alabama in 1965, which marked the political and emotional peak of the civil rights movement. The Jackson family home served as the headquarters for the voting rights campaign. Nash joins the impressive cast that also includes David Oyelowo, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Lenny Kravitz, and Hugh Jackman, just to name a few.
Nash is known for her roles in comedy series like “Reno 911!,” “The Bernie Mac Show,” and, most recently, Cedric the Entertainer’s series “The Soul Man.” She was also a contestant on the tenth season of “Dancing With The Stars.”
