Fargo star Patrick Wilson has joined the cast of the upcoming AQUAMAN blockbuster to co-star alongside leading man Jason Momoa. According to reports, Wilson will play the evil Orm Marius aka Ocean Master, the half-brother to Aquaman in the James Wan-directed flick.
He joins the previously cast Momoa and Amber Heard as Mera, the Queen of Atlantis and Aquaman’s love interest, and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, the chief scientific adviser to Atlantis and later a friend of Aquaman’s who’s named his regent.
In the comics, Orm Curry was the fully human half-brother to Arthur Curry (aka Aquaman) who was resentful of his brother’s powers. He went through life as a petty criminal before losing his memory and coming back as Orm Marius, a high-tech pirate who goes by the name of Ocean Master and attempts to plot against and overthrow his brother at any chance he gets.
The film is being executive produced by Deborah and Zack Snyder, Charles Roven, and Rob Cowan. Jon Berg oversees for Warner Bros.
This will be the second movie based on a comic Wilson has appeared, following his turn in Snyder’s 2009 adaptation of Watchmen where Wilson played the heroic Nite Owl. He was mostly recently seen in this year’s The Conjuring 2 (he also appeared in the first film in 2013) and can next be seen in The Founder opposite Michael Keaton.
