Fresh off of the wild success of Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds has already jumped into his next project — and Salma Hayek and Elodie Yung are joining him. The three will star together in THE HITMAN’S BODYGUARD, which is set to start production in April.
Hayek, Yung and Reynolds will be joined by Samuel L. Jackson and Gary Oldman in the action flick. Reynolds will play the best protection agent in the world who is assigned to a hit man played by Jackson. The two butt heads and have to endure each other’s company for 24 hours until they get to The Hague, where they encounter a ruthless Eastern European dictator (Oldman) determined to bring them down. No word yet on the roles Hayek or Yung will fill.
The Millennium Films feature will be directed by Jeff Wadlow and written by Tim O’Connor, who made the 2011 Hit List. Lionsgate is distributing and Mark Gill, John Thompson, Matt O’Toole, and Les Weldon are producing. Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, Christine Otal, Douglas Urbanski, Jason Bloom, Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman are executive producers.
Yung can be seen next in Gods of Egypt with Gerard Butler and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. She will also star in season two of Daredevil as Elektra. Her past film credits include G.I. Joe: Retaliation and
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She is repped by the Independent Talent Group and Gersh.
Hayek stars in Septembers of Shiraz opposite Adrien Brody which premiered last year at the Toronto International Film Festival. She can be seen next in the fantasy movie Tale of Tales, slated for release later this year. Next up she will lend her voice to the raunchy animated comedy Sausage Party and Drunk Parents with Joe Manganiello,
Bridget Moynahan, and Alec Baldwin. She is repped by CAA.
