After ramping up a bidding war between several major studios, the Adam Mervis spec script 17 BRIDGES has landed at STX Entertainment. As we previously reported, Captain America: Civil War directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo were interested in the project early on and they are now in final negotiations to produce.
The spec, is described as Inside Man meets The Fugitive, follows a disgraced detective in the NYPD is given a shot at redemption when he is thrust into the center of a city-wide manhunt for the man who is accused of killing five cops in a botched robbery attempt. As the chase unfolds in a completely locked down Manhattan, the detective begins to uncover a massive conspiracy linking much of the Police Department to a criminal empire, and must decide who exactly he is hunting…and who is hunting him.
Getaway Productions President Mike Larocca is also producing.
STX has won several high-profile deals, including a new animated feature from Adam Sandler and his Happy Madison Productions, Aaron Sorkin’s Molly’s Game, a new project with Sylvester Stallone and Grey Matter Productions, and international rights to Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman.
Mervis, who wrote the action sports biopic The Philly Kid, is currently working on the series he created, Midnights, at USA.
He is repped by Paradigm and Grandview.
The Russos are repped by WME.
