critics-choice-excerptThe nominees for the 22nd Annual Critics’ Choice Awards were announced today, and with no surprise, HBO took the top spot raking in 22 nominations while ABC and Netflix tied for second with 14 nods. With critically acclaimed shows like The Americans, the new Donald Glover comedy Atlanta, and the uber-successful The People Vs. OJ Simpson FX ranked fourth.

Now that the festival’s biggest purchase has been made, things are starting to get a little quieter at Sundance — but that doesn’t mean films aren’t getting snatched up by studios. Acquisitions are still being made on some of the festival’s most buzzed about titles and the first round of awards have been handed out for short filmmaking.

Logline: A struggling actor’s life becomes exponentially more complicated when he moves in to his friend’s place to help take care of his aging mother.

Logline: A misbehaving teenager convinces a man considering suicide to join her on a road trip across Texas to locate her younger sister.

Logline: Story revolves around the general manager of the Cleveland Browns as he spends the day of the National Football League draft frantically trying to get the number one pick for his struggling team.

Logline: In 1982, a young woman’s surfaces in Lake Placid, opening up a twenty year-old murder case that digs into the darker side of some very rich residents.

Logline: Story centers on a young woman, born at the turn of 20th century, who is rendered ageless after an accident. After years of a solitary life, she meets a man who might be worth losing her immortality.
