Reports have confirmed that Diane Kruger and Thomas Kretschmann are set to star in THE WALL (JOHNSON), a romantic period drama about a couple whose lives and loyalty are divided by the Berlin Wall. The independent film is produced by Belladonna Productions and Benaroya Pictures, with a production budget of $13 million.
The script is being penned by Michael Johnson and Theresa Alto, and the project still needs the unifying vision of a director to push it out of development. The additions of Kruger and Krestchmann have helped it get this far, but they’re running out of time as the project is scheduled to start shooting later this year.
Kruger is known for her leading roles as Helen in “Troy,” Abigail Chase in “National Treasure,” and Bridget von Hammersmark in “Inglorious Bastards.” She also has a slew of foreign films to her name, showing off her artistic side by dabbling between Hollywood and independent features. Kretschmann was in the recent “Captain America” film and is also known for “King Kong,” “Wanted,” and “Resident Evil: Apocalypse.”
Rene Bastian and Linda Moran are producing, and the project is currently seeking a distribution deal. Stay tuned to the Tracking Board for more updates on the film!
