〉 Lorne Michaels is producing the con-artist comedy.
Jason Sudeikis is currently in negotiations to star in the offbeat con-artist comedy GINNY, with Amy Schumer offered the title role. The story follows an idiotic rich woman that unknowingly falls in love with a con-man. She has a wake up call when he fakes his death to collect her two million dollars. Sudeikis is in talks for the role of the con-artist, Roger. Lorne Michaels is now set to produce alongside Andrew Singer via their shingle Broadway Video, Inc. Paramount bought the spec in 2013, which was scripted by Andrew Weinberg. Ant-Man and Yes Man director Peyton Reed is currently attached to direct the comedy.
Starting on Saturday Night Live as a writer in 2003, Sudeikis would go on to showcase his comedic talent in sketches as a series regular from 2005 to 2013. He has proven to be a solid comedic co-star in the hits Horrible Bosses, We’re The Millers, and Hall Pass. Over the past few years, he’s been in talks to star in the detective comedy Fletch Won, taking up the mantle from SNL alum Chevy Chase. He’ll next appear in the comedy Sleeping With Other People, opposite Community star Alison Brie. As a departure for the comedian, he’ll next star in the drama The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, which co-stars Jessica Biel and Maisie Williams.
Schumer has become in high demand as of late, gaining attention through her stand up and hit Comedy Central series Inside Amy Schumer. She will make her big screen breakout with the upcoming Judd Apatow-directed comedy Trainwreck, which she also scripted. She is next set to star in a currently untitled comedy from producer Paul Feig and is also being eyed for the Weinstein comedy Plus One, co-starring with Jessica Chastain.
Michaels is known for his landmark contributions to television, with Saturday Night Live his crowning achievement. As for features, Michaels has produced a number of comedies starring SNL players, including Mean Girls, Wayne’s World, Tommy Boy and Baby Mama. He produced the NBC series 30 Rock starring Tina Fey, which parodied SNL itself. He currently produces the FX comedy series Man Seeking Woman starring Jay Baruchel, and has produced the upcoming heist comedy Masterminds, which also features Sudeikis in a supporting role.
