A fresh lineup of hot up-and-coming 20-somethings have signed on to star in the new indie dramedy THE BAD GUYS.
Paul Iacono, Keith Nobbs, Mekenna Melvin, and Erik Stocklin have joined Lucas Near-Verbrugghe and Glen Powell in the upcoming film set to be directed Carlos Rincones later this month.
Iacono (“The Hard Times of RJ Berger”), Nobbs (“The Pacific”), Stocklin (ABC’s upcoming “Mistresses”) and Melvin (“Chuck”) are all established television and Broadway stars making the leap back to film to join Powell (“The Dark Knight Rises”) and Near-Verbrugghe (“Our Idiot Brother”) in the ensemble cast.
The film, which is based on an accidental reunion of friends over a painstakingly long weekend, is based on the off-Broadway play of the same name written by Alena Smith. Rock Shaink, Rincones, and Smith adapted the script.
This will mark Mexican director Rincones’ first english language film, following his dark-comedy “Malaventura” which releases in theaters in October.
Isaac Levy, Shaink and Rincones are producing for Romark Entertainment and Resolute Productions. Daniel Posada, Rodolfo Marquez, Alex Garcia and Smith will executive produce.
