〉Allen’s set to star in and produce the untitled comedy
Tim Allen is once again set to make a little magic at the house of mouse, with his company Boxing Cat Productions developing a vehicle for the Toy Story star to produce and lead. The untitled project is still in the early stages at Walt Disney Pictures, but the live-action comedy will see Allen star as a wealthy man who has his life changed by a genie.
Further plot details are locked down tight, but our sources confirm that development is moving forward, with the studio already on the hunt for a writer with a fresh take on the comedy. Kevin Pollak scripted the latest draft.
Boxing Cat is making good on it’s open-ended, first look deal with Disney, which began all the way back in 1999. Under that deal, Boxing Cat produced the latter two Santa Clause installments and the Shaggy Dog remake.
Allen has had a long and very profitable relationship with Disney, giving voice to the iconic Buzz Lightyear in Pixar’s Toy Story franchise and starring in hits like Jungle2Jungle, Wild Hogs, and the long-running Santa Clause series.
The Home Improvement star currently toplines ABC’s comedy Last Man Standing, which was just picked up for a fifth season. Next up, Allen is continuing his streak with Disney/Pixar, returning for the forthcoming Toy Story film, which was announced at D23.
