Director Lisa Cholodenko has been tapped to take over the directing chair previouly filled by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris on the upcoming novel adaptation THE ABSTINENCE TEACHER. The project, which was previously set up at Warner Independent, hit a rough patch there in the middle, before Warner Brothers took over development. The project, which has been adapted by Tom Perrotta, who also wrote the book, centers on a divorced sex education teacher who is forced by religious conservatives to teach abstinence. While fighting for the freedom to keep touting the joys of sex, she falls for a born-again soccer coach. Cholodenko, who most recently completed work on the Oscar nominated film “The Kids Are All Right” also has the project “Inland Empire” in development.
Cholodenko is repped by Cinetic Media.
