Despite Hulu’s THE LOOMING TOWER being about the terrorist attacks on 9/11, a series of events with on concrete conclusive ending, executive producers are already keeping things open for future seasons.
“We have no idea [where it goes], there’s a possibility of going backwards in time, there’s the possibility of going forwards in time,” showrunner Dan Futterman said during the show’s panel at the Television Critics’ Association’s winter press tour. “Without giving too much away, some of the cast would have to change.”
That’s because, of course, Season 1 likely ends in the attacks on Septmber 11, 2001, when characters including Jeff Daniels’ counter-terrorism expert John O’Neill, perished.
“There’s a lot of story to tell within this world of counter-terrorism,” Futterman continued. “Using this incredible cast of actors we have to tell them is hopefully something we get to do, and then we’ll have time to talk about [th future]. The challenge is finding, within the events, a dramatic arc for your characters. This push-pull has been fascinating to me.”
The Looming Tower premieres February 28, 2018 on Hulu.
