“This is Where It Ends” Optioned by Gotham Group with Lysa Heslov Set to Direct



The feature film rights to Marieke Nijkamp’s bestselling novel has been optioned by The Gotham Group with set to direct.

The novel focuses on an Alabama high school student armed with a gun who takes his schoolmate’s hostage in a locked gymnasium. The novel is told from four different perspectives over the course of an hour. I read the novel and it definitely has a We Need to Talk About Kevin vibe.

Heslov’s last film Served Like A Girl is an award winning 2017 documentary that follows a group of female veterans as they compete for the crown of Ms. Veteran America to raise awareness for homeless vets. She also produced the award-winning film Black Circle Boys, and the short films Mailman and Nobody’s Perfect which premiered at Sundance. She is represented by .

The Gotham Group is behind the YA sensation The Maze Runner franchise, which released the last film, The Death Cure earlier this year. They recently optioned film rights to Ruth Ware’s The Lying Game as well as Janelle Brown’s critically acclaimed suspense thriller Watch Me Disappear and Robyn Harding’s bestseller The Party. Gotham is also producing Ware’s The Woman in Cabin 10.
