Sketch comedy maven Tracey Ullman is returning to HBO in a new six-episode series, TRACEY ULLMAN’S SHOW, which aired on BBC One earlier this year. The comedy joins a slew of stand-up specials scheduled at the premium cabler over the next few months.
The series stars Ullman as various characters and famous people such as Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, and Angela Merkel. Ullman previously starred in another sketch series on HBO entitled Tracey Takes On… which ran for four seasons and won six Emmys. Tracey Ullman’s Show is due to premiere on October 28 at 11pm.
Also coming up on the network are the stand-up specials Jerrod Carmichael: Love at the Store, Pete Holmes: Faces and Sounds, T.J. Miller: Meticulously Ridiculous, and All Def Comedy. Def Comedy tapes at the Avalon Theater next month. It will be hosted by Tony Rock and features rising stand-up talent.
The specials continue HBO’s relationships with Miller and Holmes. Miller stars in the Funny or Die series The Gorburger Show in the title role which was received a pilot order from the network last year. Meanwhile, Holmes has a pilot order for his series Crashing from the network. The single camera comedy is set to be directed by Judd Apatow.
