Geoffrey Rush, Emily Watson and Ben Schnetzer have joined the cast of Fox 2000’s adaptation of Markus Zusak’s novel THE BOOK THIEF.
The trio will be joining Sophie Nélisse and Nico Liersch who, last week, Tracking Board reported would star in the film which follows a young girl with a love of reading who experience the rise of the Nazi party while her foster parents harbor a Jewish refugee in their basement.
Karen Rosenfelt and Ken Blancato will produce.
After being nominated for an Oscar for his performance in 2010’s “The King’s Speech”, Rush reprised his role of Captain Barbossa in the fourth “Pirates” installment, “On Stranger Tides” in 2011 and is in development on the drama “The Magician’s Wife”. He is repped by Shanahan Management and CAA.
Watson last starred in the adaptations of “War Horse” and “Anna Karenina” and will next be featured in the films “Little Boy” and “Belle”. She is repped by Independent Talent Group and UTA.
Schnetzer was a regular on the ABC series “Happy Town”. He is repped by Gersh.
