Khandi Alexander has nabbed the role of Maya Lewis, Olivia Pope’s mother, on ABC’s hit drama SCANDAL. She appeared on last night’s episode “Icarus” and is set to return for more. Alexander is best known for her roles as Jackie Robbins on “ER”, Dr. Alexx Woods on “CSI: Miami” and LaDonna Batiste-Williams on “Treme”, which will be returning in December for its fourth season. Alexander is repped by Resolution.
DJ Cotrona, Zane Holtz, Don Johnson and Jesse Garcia are set to star in El Rey’s first original series FROM DUSK TIL DAWN. Cotrona will play Seth Gecko, while Holtz plays his older brother Richie. Johnson will play Sheriff Earl McGraw and Garcia will play the newly created character Freddie, a Texas ranger who is in pursuit of the Gecko brothers. Cotrona, who is repped by CAA, most recently appeared in ABC’s “Detroit 1-8-7” and Jon M. Chu’s “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.” Holtz, who is repped by Gersh, most recently appeared in “Grace Unplugged” and an episode of “NCIS.” He’ll next appear in “Wind Walkers” and “Seven Minutes.” Johnson, repped by CAA, most recently appeared in “Django Unchained” and “Eastbound & Down.” He’ll next be seen in “Cold in July” and untitled Chris Messina project set up at Electric City Entertainment. Garcia, repped by Talent Works, most recently appeared in “Re-Kill”, an episode of “Longmire” and wrote and directed the short “The Price We Pay.” He’ll next be in “Spinning Dry” and “Chagrin.”
Anna Gunn will have a guest role in the upcoming season of THE MINDY PROJECT. She will play a doctor who tries to steal Mindy away and have her work for her own practice. Gunn is best known for playing Skyler White on HBO’s “Breaking Bad” and was in the films “Little Red Wagon” and “Red State.” She is repped by UTA.
Hope Davis and Justin Kirk have boarded Fox’s event series WAYWARD PINES in recurring guest roles. Based on Blake Crouch’s book of the same name, the show follows Secret Service agent Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon), who arrives in the town of Wayward Pines in the hopes that he’ll find his missing colleagues. Davis will play Megan Fisher, a teacher at Wayward Pines Academy. Kirk will play Peter McCall, the local realtor in Wayward Pines. Repped by UTA, Davis most recently appeared on the second season of “The Newsroom” and R.J. Cutler’s TV movie “The Ordained.” Kirk is also repped by UTA and most recently appeared in “Last Love” and four episodes of “Modern Family.”
Kelly Rutherford has booked a guest appearance on the current season of Fox’s procedural BONES. She will play Stephanie McNamara, an old acquaintance of Hodgins (T.J. Thyne) who becomes embroiled in the team’s latest investigation when her brother is brought in for questioning. Rutherford is repped by Paradigm and most recently appeared in “The Stream”, the TV movie “A Sister’s Nightmare” and the CW’s “Gossip Girl.”
Molly Shannon has jumped aboard an untitled single camera comedy project at Fox. Written by Bruce McCulloch, the series follows Fiona (Shannon) who clashes with her stay-at-home pregnant daughter on a constant basis. In addition to starring in the show, Shannon will also produce. She is repped by UTA and most recently appeared in Clark Gregg’s “Trust Me”, Malcolm D. Lee’s “Scary MoVie” and voiced the character Millie in the episode “Fort Night” of “Bob’s Burgers.”
Cheyenne Jackson has joined Ryan Murphy’s OPEN. The series is an edgy take on sexuality and relationships and early word is that Jackson plays a meth addict. Jackson previously starred in “30 Rock” and on Murphy’s “Glee” and will next be seen in “Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks.” He is repped by ICM.
THE LOTTERY has added Michael Graziadei, Lesley-Ann Brandt and Louise Lombard. The project is set in the future where women have stopped being able to have children. When 100 embryos are fertilized, a lottery is held to see which women can have them. Graziadei will play an alcoholic single-father named Kyle, whose child is one of the last to be born in the century. Brandt will play a soldier whose always wanted a child and hopes to be picked in the lottery. Lombard will play Tori, a powerful member of the eliete who has the ability to pull the strings of the president. Graziadei starred on “The Young and the Restless” and is repped by Gersh. Brandt starred in “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” and will next appear in “Killer Women.” She is with Innovative Artists. Lombard starred in “CSI” and is repped by Paradigm.
Wes Ramsey will have the male lead in DELIVERANCE CREEK. The show centers on a woman who tries to protect her family’s farmland from outlaws during The Civil War. Ramsey will play Nate Cooper, one of the few lawmen remaining in the area. Ramsey has previously starred in “CSI: Miami” and “Venice the Series” and is repped by Abrams Artist Agency.
Alexis Denisof will have a lead role in FINDING CARTER. Kathryn Prescott plays a girl who finds out that who she thought was her mother actually abducted her from her real mom. Denisof will play David Wilson, the girl’s level-headed father. Denisof previously starred in “Much Ado About Nothing”, “The Avengers” and “How I Met Your Mother.” He is repped by APA.
Olesya Rulin, Justin Martin, Harvey Guillen and Lilan Bowden have been cast in MTV’s thriller pilot EYE CANDY which stars Victoria Justice as Lindy, a hacker whose blog lands her in the cross hairs of the city’s most dangerous cyber stalker. Rulin will play Lindy’s roommate Ann-Marie Halliday. Martin will play Tyrone, a juvenile deliquent who teams up with an underground crime unit trained to catch cyber stalkers. Guillen will play Juan, the most brilliant member of the cyber crime unit. Bowden will play the youngest member of the cyber crime unit, Page. Rulin is managed by ROAR and most recently appeared in Benjamin Epps’ “Family Weekend.” Martin is repped by CAA and last appeared in Robert Zemeckis’ “Flight.” Guillen is repped by Osbrink Talent Agency and last appeared in Ringo Le’s “Big Gay Love.” Bowden is repped by Sovereign Talent Group and most recently appeared in Steven J. Kung’s “A Leading Man” and two episodes of “Days of Our Lives.”
Aaron Stanford and Amanda Schull will have the lead roles in the TV adaptation of 12 MONKEYS. Stanford will play Cole, a man sent back from the future to stop a deadly plague from spreading. Schull will play Cassandra Railly, a doctor who must choose if she wants to join Cole on his mission to stop the virus. Stanford starred in the series “Nikita” and is repped by Daisy Wu. Schull appeared in “J. Edgar” and “Suits” and with Innovative Artists.
Jason O’Mara will be staring in USA’s COMPLICATIONS. He will plays Dr. John Ellis, the lead, whose life changes when he’s involved in a gang shootout. O’Mara previously starred on “Terra Nova” and “Vegas” and was last in the film “In A World…” He is with UTA.
