ABC FAMILY has picked up to series half-hour pilot BABY DADDY, created by Dan Berendsen, which the network says is its highest-testing comedy pilot in history. The series centers on a young man who becomes a surprise dad to a baby girl when she’s left on his doorstep by an ex-girlfriend. He decides to raise the baby with the help of his mother, his brother Danny his best buddy Tucker and his close female friend, Riley who is harboring a secret crush on him.
NBC has given the green light to Eric Kripke/JJ Abrams’ drama REVOLUTION. Written by Kripke, the series is being described as a high-octane action drama following a group of characters struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist.
NICKELODEON has given the green light to the scripted comedy pilot BAD FAIRY. The multi-camera comedy is written and executive produced by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas. The series follows the unlikely friendship between a rebellious teen fairy and an 14-year-old girl who form a bond as they help each other navigate the perils of both teenage and fairy life.
FX is developing an UNTITLED GLOUD COMEDY PROJECT created and starring Dana Gloud and executive produced by Dave Grohl. The series centers on a rock band on the verge of mega-stardom who finds itself on the verge of breaking up and is forced to seek professional help in a last-ditch effort to stay together. Unfortunately, they end up with a misanthropic couple’s therapist.
RENEWALS
TV LAND has renewed its long standing drama THE SECRET LIFE OF THE AMERICAN TEENAGER for a fifth season. The network has also renewed its freshman series THE EXES, with the sophomore season slated to premiere in June.
DEALS
Actor and comedian John Leguizamo has signed a development deal with ABC and ABC STUDIOS. Under the new deal, Lefuizamo will star in and executive produce a single-camera comedy inspired by his personal and professional life.
