This weekend did not come as a surprise to anyone, with “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” taking the top spot with $92 million. Many thought the film would do better here at home, but since it has already pulled in $277 million overseas, I don’t think anyone is really concerned. With “Neighbors” being the only real competition for next weekend, Spidey will have a chance to take number 1 two weeks in a row, if the negative word of mouth doesn’t drop those numbers too much, which I am betting they will. We’ll see. “The Other Woman” dropped a spot to number 2 with $14.2 million and “Heaven Is For Real” was the only film in the top five to stay still at number 3 with $8.7 million. “Captain America” finishes up its fifth week in the top five with $7.7 million and “Rio 2” rounded out the top with $7.6 million. As “Rio 2” is the only family film in the top 5 right now I would expect “Captain America” to be finally bumped next weekend and “Rio 2” to take its number 5 spot.
