Desperate Housewives alum Jesse Metcalfe and rock star Pete Wentz have joined the cast of ESCAPE PLAN 2, director Steven C. Miller announced on social media. They join Sylvester Stallone, Jaime King, Dave Bautista, Wes Chatham and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in the action-packed sequel.
Miles Chapman wrote the original as well as the sequel, which finds Stallone reprising his role as security expert Ray Breslin, though additional plot details are being kept in solitary confinement. Production is currently under way in Atlanta, where Miller has been tweeting has been tweeting images from the set.
Escape Plan 2 will be a co-production between Emmett/Furla/Oasis and China-based Leomus Pictures, and as such, the sequel is expected to feature some Chinese story elements to deepen its local resonance.
EFO founders Randall Emmett and George Furla are producing alongside Mark Canton, Zack Schiller, Robbie Brenner and Leomus CEO Jie Qiu. Ted Fox, Mark Stewart, Barry Brooker and Stan Wertlieb will serve as executive producers along with The Fyzz Facility’s Wayne Marc Godfrey and Robert Jones.
Best known for starring on ABC’s Desperate Housewives and TNT’s Dallas reboot, Metcalfe’s feature credits include John Tucker Must Die and the Dead Rising movies. He’ll make his producing debut with the family drama In Stranger Company, in which he also stars alongside Danny Trejo. He’s represented by Gersh, Untitled Entertainment and Jackoway Tyerman.
Wentz is a well-known rock star whose band Fall Out Boy has a legion of fans, though he has started branching out into acting with a recurring role on Nickelodeon’s School of Rock TV series. He’s repped by CAA.
