“Avengers”-Esque Spec “Princesses” Has the Town Talking and Joachim Ronning Attached to Direct for Disney Territory (EXCLUSIVE)

’s and veteran lit manager are out with a hot new spec titled that studios are salivating over since it’s described as a female-driven Avengers featuring classic fairy tale princesses.

The spec is being sent to all buyers simultaneously, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales director is attached to the package for Disney, and possibly other territories as well.

With the recent success of Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, Moana, and other narratives that promote strong, independent female characters, Princesses is coming out at the appropriate time. No word on which princesses are included in the action-adventure spec, but they’re likely iconic princesses popularized by Disney yet still in the public domain.

In addition to helming the fifth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Ronning is also known for directing the adventure pic Kon-Tiki as well as directing episodes of Netflix’s Marco Polo. He’s represented by and .
