We’re thrilled to announce that Launch Pad Pilot Quarter-Finalist Katiedid Langrock has been signed by Jeff Portnoy at Bellevue Productions! Not only did Langrock place in the 2014 Pilot Competition, but she was also an Honorable Mention in our Feature Competition. And it doesn’t stop there. Langrock has also placed twice in both the Academy Nicholl Fellowship competition and Final Draft’s Big Break Contest, plus she was a runner-up in the ScreenCraft Comedy Script Contest.

Jeff Portnoy has joined the management ranks alongside John Zaozirny over at fast-on-the-rise production & management house Bellevue Productions. Portnoy, a former agent at the now defunct Resolution, closed his own Heretic Literary and brought all of his clients with him. In fact, he recently added one more by signing 2015 Launch Pad Pilot Competition Top 25 writer Ben Kawaller, so Langrock’s certainly in good company.

Langrock’s drama The Inheritance was a favorite amongst our judges last year, focusing on a political visionary’s personal sins rippling through a family who struggles to prevent the sins of past generations being inherited by the next. The Sopranos meets House of Cards in tone, The Inheritance is smart and intriguing, and it perfectly showcases Langrock’s skill.

Preggers, Langrock’s 2014 Launch Pad Feature entry, is drastically different in tone but no less well-written. The script is hilarious without sacrificing heart, telling the story of a hard-partying bartender who gets pregnant and struggles to maintain her lifestyle of choice while under the prenatal care of her strict older sister. Pitched as Knocked Up meets Bad Teacher, the script proves that Langrock is just as capable to handle comedy as drama.

Currently, Langrock uses her love of story telling and crafting characters daily in both her job as Story Editor for the Netflix Original series Project MC2 and the Bratz webisode series. She also has an internationally syndicated humor column which appears in over 60 newspapers every week, and a “Best Of” book of her columns is being published and is set to be released this winter.

By signing with Portnoy, Langrock will also join Young & Hungry List, Hit List and Black List writer Josh Golden, who wrote the spec Road To Oz, which is currently being fast-tracked at New Line.

Langrock marks the 80th writer signed in just the first two years of the Launch Pad Competition!
