Marvel Cinematic Universe maestros Joe Russo and Anthony Russo are venturing out of the world of comic book movies and partnering with Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan for a yet-to-be-titled sci-fi feature, the Tracking Board has confirmed. The pair, who are affectionately referred to as The Daniels, were the minds behind Swiss Army Man, which earned them the Directing Award at Sundance in 2016.
The news of the project was first reported by Deadline and the story details are being kept under wraps, but it will be an original story in the same vein as Swiss Army Man, which told the story of a man who kept company with a flatulent corpse while deserted on an island.
The Daniels are set to write and direct the film. They will also produce the film with the Russo Brothers and Johnathan Wang. Mosaic’s Josh Rudnick and Mike Larocca will serve as executive producers.
The Russo Brothers are currently filming the mega-Marvel movie Avengers: Infinity War and have numerous projects in development including a TV series based on the 1979 cult classic The Warriors as well as a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair.
The Daniels have worked on numerous shorts and have TV credits that include Children’s Hospital and NTSF:SD:SUV.
The Russos are repped by WME.
The Daniels are repped by Mosaic.
