Julie Delpy and Greta Gerwig are in talks to star in Todd Solondz’s upcoming drama WIENER DOG. The project is an ensemble of stories, which will all be tied together by a dachshund. One of the stories will center on Dawn Wiener, a character from Solondz’s 1995 cult classic Welcome to the Dollhouse. Megan Ellison is producing under her Annapurna Productions banner along with Christine Vachon under her Killer Films banner.
Delpy is known for her role as Celine in the indie trilogy Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, and Before Midnight, which she also wrote with writer/director Richard Linklater. Lately, Delpy has been trying her hand at writing/directing with projects like 2 Days in Paris, The Countess, and 2 Days in New York. Her upcoming projects include the comedies Lolo and A Dazzling Display of Splendor, both of which she wrote and directed.
Like Delpy, Gerwig has starred in her fair share of indies, including Frances Ha, which she wrote, but is probably best known on screen for her roles in Arthur, No Strings Attached, and Woody Allen’s To Rome With Love. More recently, Gerwig appeared in Mia Hansen-Løve’s Eden and will reunited with director Noah Baumbach for an untitled public school comedy.
