Juliette Binoche, James Brolin and Oscar Nunez have joined the cast of THE 33 alongside Antonio Banderas, Martin Sheen and Rodrigo Santoro. Kate Del Castillo, Lou Diamond Phillips, Mario Casas, Juan Pablo Raba, Tenoch Huerta, Jacob Vargas, Marco Trevino and Alejandro Goic round out the cast. The project follows the true story of 33 Chilean miners who were trapped underground for 69 days after their mine collapsed in 2010. Binoche will be taking the role that initially had Jennifer Lopez attached.
Craig Borten wrote the most recent draft that Patricia Riggen is currently shooting. Mike Medavoy, Edward McGurn and Bernie Williams are the producers.
Binoche was last seen in “Camille Claudel 1915” and will soon appear in the new “Godzilla” remake. Brolin was last in “Last Will” and will soon appear in “Elsa & Fred.” Nunez, best known for “The Office”, will soon appear in the crime drama “Tell.”
Binoche, Brolin and Nunez are repped by CAA, UTA and Stone Manners Salners Agency respectively.
