〉 Seymour joins over 150 Launch Pad writers who have landed representation in just three years.
We are excited to announce that 2016 Launch Pad Pilots Competition writer Annabel Seymour, whose original comedy pilot #1 FAN recently landed in the Top 25 of the LPPC, has signed with manager Tom Carter of Artillery Creative.
Pitched as 30 Rock meets Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, the series centers on a businesswoman who, twenty years after embarrassing herself by proposing to her pop star crush on live TV, finds her life thrown for a loop when the bankrupt singer shows up on her doorstep.
Our Launch Pad readers praised #1 Fan as the type of comedy a network builds a night around. With a mix of wit, nostalgia, and goofiness, this is an easily accessible big audience show with an incredibly relatable premise turned up to 11, and it’s easy to see playing week to week. Two exceptionally well-drawn characters anchor a series that, between the laughs, consistently delivers a great deal of depth and humanity. The writing is strong, the characters breakouts, and the jokes hilarious.
Seymour is a comedy writer and performer living in Los Angeles. A New York City native, she graduated from Dartmouth College with a BA in comparative literature and then moved to Los Angeles to earn an MFA in Film and TV Production from USC. After working for over two years in TV development at Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video, she switched gears back to the creative side and has been writing and performing comedy regularly ever since. She currently works as a writer’s assistant for Rob Corddry, and is a member of several indie improv teams in Los Angeles.
Artillery’s Carter has already signed two 2016 Launch Pad Pilots Competition writers, Justin Jacobs and Jenny Deiker, both of whom saw original drama pilots land in the Top 75. Carter also reps LP alum David Hoffman, who now works in the writers room of the upcoming NBC drama Timeless after his 2015 LPPC winning script was set up with Chernin Entertainment.
Congratulations Annabel! We can’t wait to see what you do next!
