Rosamund Pike is the latest A-list actress to circle the lead role of GUERNSEY, which also has Mike Newell in talks to direct. Based on the novel, Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows, the story follows a writer who befriends the residents of Guernsey Island and writes about their World War II experiences and the aftermath.
Don Roos is penning the adaptation of best-selling book and it will be produced by Mitchell Kaplan and Paula Mazur under Mazur/Kaplan Company. The lead role has also garnered interest by Pike’s fellow high-profile actresses, Kate Winslet, Lily James, and Rebecca Ferguson. The feature has yet to receive an official green light, but execs have been showing interest.
Pike came into the spotlight for her Oscar-nominated performance in Gone Girl, but has a long list of credits including The World’s End and Wrath of the Titans. She recently filmed A United Kingdom with David Oyelowo and can be seen in another World War II drama, HHhH with Reinhard Heydrich. Mia Wasikowski, Jack Reynor and Jack O’Connell. She will also star opposite Jon Hamm in High Wire Act written by Tony Gilroy and directed by Brad Anderson.
