The Tracking Board, in partnership with The Script Lab, is excited to present a new episode of ANATOMY OF A SALE.
In this week’s episode, we are joined by Jake Wagner of Good Fear Content, who takes us through the ins and outs of one of the biggest spec sales in history – SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN from writer Evan Daugherty. The project, which was initially written during Daugherty’s time at NYU, would go on to launch his career, land him a spot on both the Hit List and Black List, and garner nearly $400 Million at the box office. Jake takes us through the the process of looking back at Daugherty’s trunk scripts, the steps to take when a project similar to yours hits the market, taking “sniper-shots” with the script at particular studios, and going wide with the project on the way to an all-out bidding war. The project would go on to lay the foundation for the many modern retellings of fantasy classics that we’ve seen over the last few years, and Jake takes you step-by-step through this journey.
Jake Wagner is a literary Manager and producer from Good Fear Content. He remains one of the industry’s top managers, leading the charge for countless mega-sales including Paramount’s Crawl, Fox’s Stuber, and Princesses set up with Sony, to name a few. Jake has signed more writers from the Launch Pad competition than any other manager in town and he has been essential to launching numerous writer’s careers, exemplifying what it means to be a manager.
