Only buying shows that have a real shot of going forward/ have the right auspices.
FOX (Network)
Here is a breakdown of the television mandates for networks, cable and streamers for the 2020-2021 season.
Veteran showrunner Neal Baer and writer Cathryn Humphris are developing a brand new legal drama at Fox with a script plus penalty commitment. The untitled series is a character-driven scripted procedural that is likely to touch on relevant and sensitive topics.
Two new shows have been given put pilot commitments from Fox: Controversy and an untitled workplace comedy from the creators and executive producers of The Grinder.
Kyle Starks’ graphic novel Sexcastle has signed up Daniel Libman and Matthew Libman to adapt the property for the screen. Anthony Russo and Joe Russo are producing the film.
After four films and over $700 million at the box office, John Rambo is making his way to the small screen. Fox and Sylvester Stallone have inked a deal to develop a one-hour drama series based on the iconic troubled vet titled Rambo: New Blood.
Noted Renaissance man Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson will step back into the arena of visual entertainment with the recent agreement to co-produce and recur in Fox’s new single-camera sitcom, My Friend 50. The project will see Fiddy team up with veteran producer Will Packer.
With the show order cut from 13 to 10, and with cancellation a near certainty, the show wraps itself up with a shrug worthy plot. Minority Report has been a good example of a promising idea gone off the rails.
It’s too bad things turned out this way for Minority Report. If you look at the source material it held so much promise for a television series, but it was unfortunately white washed and squandered for this sterile surrogate we’re left with.
Tonight’s episode of Minority Report contains the origin story of Blake, but let’s be honest, at this point does anyone even care anymore?
At this point the show is dead in the water, and with the announcement that FOX cut their episode order down from 13 to 10 it’s basically assured this misfire of a show will be getting the axe. But I’ll trudge through and hate watch the last 3 episodes so you don’t have to.
Minority Report takes a jaunt out to the country in this week’s episode. Now so far, Agatha has been my favorite character, so you’d think an Agatha centric episode would be just what the doctor ordered, but you’d be wrong.
This week’s episode of Minority Report deals with something that’s lingered over Vega since the moment we met her, the death of her father. In another so-so episode, we follow the well-trod road of a main character with daddy issues.
Another week, and another mediocre episode of Minority Report. This week Dash learns about love when he falls for a woman who may also be a killer. In fact, this whole episode is rife with sexual tension.
Fox is developing a new event series with Gina Prince-Blythewood and Brian Grazer inspired by the growing number of police-shootings that have gained national attention recently. Sanaa Lathan is set to star as an investigator of the shooting.
I get that Minority Report is shooting for a Grimm or Sleepy Hollow type of format. I just can’t take this goofy show seriously. It could have been a contender. I wanted it to be a contender, but as is, it’s only a contender for worst new show.
I’m not sure if there is any way to save this show and turn things around. I know it’s only been two episodes, but already everything about it is wrong, and at this point I’m just hoping it gets cancelled.
The series will follow an Indian-American rapper who decides to live with his parents in Queens, and is based on the real life of Indian-American rapper Heems.
Unfortunately this version of Minority Report is a happy shiny looking future, seemingly discarding the look and complicated layered mystery that made the Spielberg film work so well.
The hit series is coming back for a 10-episode run.
I’m not sure how to really talk about Wayward Pines any more. The disdain I feel for this show is greater than anything I’ve experienced in a really long time. Getting through the final episode was basically a hate-watching extravaganza, and the twist at the end (because with Shyamalan there’s always a twist) was laughable at best.
The reboot of Archie and his pals is moving from FOX to CW.
